As part of our 20th Anniversary celebrations, join Tommy Banks for an exclusive afternoon reflecting on the story of The Black Swan. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of our abundant kitchen garden, before dinner from our tasting menu and a relaxing overnight stay in one of our beautiful bedrooms.
The experience begins in the 16th-century bar at The Black Swan, with a welcome to Oldstead from Tommy Banks and an insight into our journey over the past two decades – from village pub to world-renowned restaurant with rooms. You will then move outside for a tour of our vibrant kitchen garden led by Tommy, accompanied by a snack prepared in the garden by our chefs and an Oldstead cocktail.
Throughout the afternoon, you’ll hear the story behind our gardens evolution firsthand from Tommy – how we have adopted and developed sustainable, regenerative growing techniques and preservation methods over the years to create unique ingredients that are used in the restaurant year-round.

Itinerary:
Day of Arrival:
1.30pm – Arrive in the bar at The Black Swan.
1.45pm – Welcome & introduction to Oldstead from Tommy Banks.
2pm – Garden Tour, led by Tommy Banks, with an non-alcoholic Oldstead cocktail, and snacks prepared by our chefs in the garden.
3.30pm – Check in to your room for some downtime before dinner in the restaurant from our tasting menu
Day of Departure:
8.30am – 9.30am – Breakfast at The Black Swan at Oldstead
10.30am – Check out

Terms & Conditions:
This package is based on 2 people sharing a room. This package may not be suitable for individuals with limited mobility due to the requirement for walking, standing, and navigating uneven surfaces. A £150 deposit per person is taken at the time of booking. You must cancel your reservation outside of 14 days to receive a full refund minus a £10 administration charge. The remaining balance of the package, all drinks and any extras taken throughout your stay will be payable on departure. In adverse weather conditions we may need to transfer the tour to the day of departure which we will endeavour to do with as much notice as possible.
Dine at The Black Swan Oldstead
The Black Swan is a 1 Michelin-star, a Michelin Green Star and 4 AA Rosette restaurant with rooms by chef Tommy Banks.
Experience a tasting menu that is inspired by the ingredients that we grow and forage ourselves in and around Oldstead. The tasting menu is priced at £195 per person for dinner and £135 per person for Saturday lunch.
Stay at The Black Swan Oldstead
We offer 1 night stays Tuesday - Saturday which include the tasting menu, overnight stay and breakfast in one of our nine beautiful rooms. When The Black Swan rooms are full we offer our packages at our sister site, The Abbey Inn at Byland (located 1 mile away). Please note The Abbey Inn is closed on a Tuesday and Wednesday; check in would be at The Black Swan on both these days.
We also offer 2 night packages arriving on a Saturday or Monday only. Guests will enjoy our tasting menu on Saturday/Tuesday and can experience our sister restaurant, The Abbey Inn, on the Sunday/Monday.
