This year marks a very special milestone at The Black Swan, as we celebrate 20 years since the Banks family took the reins. It has been an extraordinary two decades of evolution and culinary creativity, and we are delighted to be bringing together the head chefs who have shaped that journey for a series of exclusive anniversary evenings in Oldstead.
Join Tommy Banks for an exclusive dining experience alongside Will Lockwood – now Head Chef at our sister restaurant, Roots York, and Executive Chef, Callum Leslie, with a menu of iconic Oldstead dishes that defined their era at the helm of The Black Swan. Expect favourite dishes including Tommy’s signature Crapaudine Beetroot, alongside a reimagined version of his 10/10 Great British Menu dish, Douglas Fir, Sheep’s Yoghurt & Lemon Verbena and current classics such as Callum’s Dexter Beef Rib Eye. We’ll also be welcoming shellfish back to the menu for these exclusive evenings, blending perfectly with locally grown produce in Will’s Crab & Asparagus dish.
The package includes an overnight stay in one of our beautiful bedrooms. Check in and take time to relax in your room with a chilled glass of Pol Roger Champagne before joining us in the restaurant for dinner.
Enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep before waking up to the North Yorkshire countryside and a hearty Oldstead breakfast, with a signed copy of Tommy’s cookbook for you to take with you on departure.

Day of Arrival:
4pm – Arrive at The Black Swan Oldstead. Check in to your room for some downtime before joining us in the restaurant for dinner.
Evening – Our exclusive Oldstead Icons dining experience with a menu curated & presented by Tommy Banks, Will Lockwood and Callum Leslie.
Day of Departure:
8.30am – 9.30am – Breakfast at The Black Swan Oldstead
10.30am – Check out
Terms & Conditions:
The Oldstead Icons Experience is available to book for on 19th April, 14th June, 18th October & 6th December only. A £150 per person deposit is taken at the time of booking. The remaining balance of the package will be payable 31 days prior to the date of the event. All drinks and any extras taken throughout your stay will be payable on departure.
This package is based on 2 people sharing a room.
Please note that due to the fixed nature of the menu for this event, we are unable to accommodate any allergies, intolerances, or dietary requirements. The menu shown is a sample and subject to change.
The maximum table size we can accommodate for this event is 4 guests.
You must cancel your reservation outside of 31 days to receive a full refund minus a £10 administration charge. If you cancel within a month of the reservation date the whole payment will be kept as a cancellation charge. If we are able to re-let the booking we will refund the payment (minus a £10 administration charge).
Dine at The Black Swan Oldstead
The Black Swan is a 1 Michelin-star, a Michelin Green Star and 4 AA Rosette restaurant with rooms by chef Tommy Banks.
Experience a tasting menu that is inspired by the ingredients that we grow and forage ourselves in and around Oldstead. The tasting menu is priced at £195 per person for dinner and £135 per person for Saturday lunch.
Stay at The Black Swan Oldstead
We offer 1 night stays Tuesday - Saturday which include the tasting menu, overnight stay and breakfast in one of our nine beautiful rooms. When The Black Swan rooms are full we offer our packages at our sister site, The Abbey Inn at Byland (located 1 mile away). Please note The Abbey Inn is closed on a Tuesday and Wednesday; check in would be at The Black Swan on both these days.
We also offer 2 night packages arriving on a Saturday or Monday only. Guests will enjoy our tasting menu on Saturday/Tuesday and can experience our sister restaurant, The Abbey Inn, on the Sunday/Monday.
