Foraging & Preservation Overnight Stay Experience 2026
When we released our Foraging & Preservation Overnight Stay Experiences earlier this year they sold out in a matter of hours, so we’ve worked with our Preservation Team to offer more opportunities for our guests to experience this incredible package. We’re pleased to announce the release of further dates for the Foraging & Preservation Overnight Stay Experience through the spring and summer of 2026.
This package really allows you to get behind the scenes, through one on one time with the Foraging & Preservation Team to learn all about how we use our grown and foraged ingredients in the peak of a season as well as across the seasons all year around too.
The Foraging & Preservation Experience for 2026 with a 2-night Stay includes:
– A 2-night stay at The Black Swan Oldstead
– 3-course dinner at The Abbey Inn on the Monday night (Taxi to and from The Black Swan included)
– Foraging trip with our Foraging & Preservation team in Oldstead and the surrounding area
– Preservation workshop under The Pavilion in the garden at The Black Swan Oldstead
– Tasting Menu for Two at The Black Swan Oldstead on the Tuesday night
– Breakfast both mornings at The Black Swan Oldstead
– A copy of Tommy’s cookbook, Roots
– Oldstead preservation pack to take away
The Foraging & Preservation Experience 2-night Stay is priced at £1695 based on two people sharing a room.
This experience is limited to a maximum of 12 guests only on select Monday & Tuesdays through April, May, June, July and September with arrival on a Monday and departure on a Wednesday morning.

Tuesday:
8.30am – 9.30am – Breakfast at The Black Swan Oldstead
10.30am – Foraging trip (hot drinks included)
12.30pm – Preservation Workshop
1.30pm – Back to your room at Black Swan Oldstead for some down time before dinner
Tuesday evening – Dinner at The Black Swan Oldstead
Wednesday:
8.30am – 9.30am – Breakfast at The Black Swan Oldstead

Terms & Conditions:
This package is available on the select dates only based on 2 people sharing a room, subject to availability. A £600 deposit is taken at the time of booking with the remaining balance due 21 days prior to your stay. You must cancel your reservation outside of 21 days to receive a full refund minus a £10 administration charge. If you cancel within 21 days the whole payment will be kept as a cancellation charge. If we are able to re-let the booking we will refund the payment (minus a £10 administration charge). The 3-course dinner at The Abbey Inn includes a starter, main, 1 side and a dessert per person. Dinner at The Black Swan Oldstead includes the standard Tasting Menu. Please contact us regarding any dietary requirements. No drinks, supplement dishes or wine packages are included in this package. All drinks and any extras taken throughout your stay will be payable on departure. Please note, transportation to the foraging experience will be in guests’ personal cars and is not provided. This package may not be suitable for individuals with limited mobility due to the requirement for walking, standing, and navigating uneven surfaces. In adverse weather conditions we may need to transfer the foraging trip to the day of departure or cancel which we will endeavour to do with as much notice as possible.
Dine at The Black Swan Oldstead
The Black Swan is a 1 Michelin-star, a Michelin Green Star and 4 AA Rosette restaurant with rooms by chef Tommy Banks.
Experience a tasting menu that is inspired by the ingredients that we grow and forage ourselves in and around Oldstead. The tasting menu is priced at £195 per person for dinner and £135 per person for Saturday lunch.
Stay at The Black Swan Oldstead
We offer 1 night stays Tuesday - Saturday which include the tasting menu, overnight stay and breakfast in one of our nine beautiful rooms. When The Black Swan rooms are full we offer our packages at our sister site, The Abbey Inn at Byland (located 1 mile away). Please note The Abbey Inn is closed on a Tuesday and Wednesday; check in would be at The Black Swan on both these days.
We also offer 2 night packages arriving on a Saturday or Monday only. Guests will enjoy our tasting menu on Saturday/Tuesday and can experience our sister restaurant, The Abbey Inn, on the Sunday/Monday.
