Named after the dales and woodlands surrounding the hamlet of Oldstead, we have nine guest bedrooms at the Black Swan; each with an impressive free standing roll-top bath and interiors designed with a stylish mix of character and luxury. You can retreat to your room after dinner for a relaxing night’s sleep and then set the day off right with a proper Yorkshire breakfast, Black-Swan style. All our bedrooms are bookable on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis, or take a look at our overnight stay experiences below.

Please note; none of our guest bedrooms are located within the main building of the Black Swan and are instead situated across the road within Ashberry House, or overlooking the peaceful landscapes of our restaurant garden. We also offer rooms just a mile down the road at our sister pub, The Abbey Inn, with a guaranteed table reservation at The Black Swan.
Garden Tour & Overnight Stay Package
Bookings are now open for our Garden Tour & Overnight Stay package in Summer 2026.
We’re excited to open up our garden for guests to come and learn about the sustainable, regenerative growing techniques and preservation methods we’ve adopted and developed over the years here in Oldstead.
Join us for a tour of our garden before staying over in one of our rooms, with dinner from our tasting menu and breakfast the following morning.

The Ultimate Two Night Stay Experience
This package is perfect for those wanting to sample all Oldstead and Byland have to offer, including a Monday & Tuesday 2-night stay in one of our 9 luxury bedrooms. The Cosy Festive Retreat

Dine at The Black Swan Oldstead
The Black Swan is a 1 Michelin-star, a Michelin Green Star and 4 AA Rosette restaurant with rooms by chef Tommy Banks.
Experience a tasting menu that is inspired by the ingredients that we grow and forage ourselves in and around Oldstead. The tasting menu is priced at £195 per person for dinner and £135 per person for Saturday lunch.
Stay at The Black Swan Oldstead
We offer 1 night stays Tuesday - Saturday which include the tasting menu, overnight stay and breakfast in one of our nine beautiful rooms. When The Black Swan rooms are full we offer our packages at our sister site, The Abbey Inn at Byland (located 1 mile away). Please note The Abbey Inn is closed on a Tuesday and Wednesday; check in would be at The Black Swan on both these days.
We also offer 2 night packages arriving on a Saturday or Monday only. Guests will enjoy our tasting menu on Saturday/Tuesday and can experience our sister restaurant, The Abbey Inn, on the Sunday/Monday.
