Scotch Corner Chapel was built in the 1950's by John Bunting as a memorial to three friends who were killed in World War II. Bunting was an art teacher at Ampleforth College and talented sculptor.
Johns family now look after the Chapel. Daughter Madeleine Bunting, journalist and writer for The Guardian recently wrote
"The Plot". The bestselling book describes the plot of land her father bought and built the chapel on as well as its surrounding area.
Why have a short walk to the chapel which is on the footpath between Oldstead and The White Horse or include it in part of a longer walk. Detailed walking notes are available in the bar.
