Robert Thompson's world-famous oak furniture makers who carve a little mouse on every piece.

 

Helmsley (8 miles)

Helmsley is a picturesque market town situated on the River Rye. It is well worth a visit for its quality shops, castle and walled garden.

 

Thirsk (9 miles)

Alf Wight, the author of the James Herriot vet stories had his surgery in Thirsk, which has now been developed into The World of James Herriot visitor centre. For many years he visited our farm Oldstead Grange and attended to our animals.

 

York (20 miles)

York is a world renowned city with 2000 years of history on display. In the shadow of York Minster (the largest medieval church north of the Alps) amongst the cobbled Tudor streets are a wealth of museums, galleries and specialist shops all encircled within the ancient city walls.

 

Pickering (20 miles)

This historic market town is also the start of the Moors Railway. Park here then take the steam train to Levisham, Goathland, Grosmont and finally Whitby.

 

Harrogate (30 miles)

The spa town of Harrogate is a popular tourist destination. The Famous Betty's tearooms, classy shops and Harlow Carr Gardens are worth a visit.
